Virginia Governor Proclaims August 1, 2005 American Woodmark Day
WINCHESTER, VA., (August 1, 2005) – This year marks the 25th anniversary for American Woodmark Corporation (AWC) (NASDAQ:AMWD), a leading supplier of cabinetry to the new home construction and remodeling industries. A corporate ceremony is being held at AWC’s Winchester, Va.-based headquarters on August 1, 2005, state proclaimed American Woodmark Day, where Chairman and CEO, Jake Gosa, will accept a State Proclamation from Virginia Deputy Secretary of Trade and Commerce Matt Erskine. Additional guests-of-honor will include Winchester Mayor Elizabeth Minor and Vice President of Habitat for Humanity International Tom Jones, who will be accepting a $25,000 donation from American Woodmark’s Chairman and CEO Jake Gosa.
A central theme of the company’s 25th anniversary celebration is local community service incorporating the number “25.” As AWC employees carry out their local efforts, AWC’s corporate donation of $25,000 to Habitat for Humanity International serves as the crowning glory of the company’s anniversary events. A check dedication ceremony will be included in the events on August 1. Additionally, employees will seal a commemorative “Time ‘Capsule’ Cabinet,” which will comprise a variety of items from AWC and other local institutions that reflect the culture and values of the company and its community.
AWC has experienced exponential growth since the company’s start in 1980. Now, the largest independent cabinet manufacturer in the United States, the company employs more than 6,500 people nationwide at 15 manufacturing plants and various builder service centers located around the country.
This celebration at American Woodmark’s headquarters is part of a series of 25th anniversary events being held around the country at the company’s facilities, many of which are also being held on state proclaimed American Woodmark Day.
“We are truly excited about this company milestone,” says Gosa. “Our success can be attributed to our employees hard work and dedication, as well as to the company’s devotion to customer satisfaction on all levels. It’s why in American Woodmark’s 25th year, we have remained an industry leader.”
