Joseph P. Fanizzi Awarded the 2023 Jeffrey S. Holcomb Scholarship

July 25, 2023

Joseph P. Fanizzi, son of Joseph A. Fanizzi, Field Supervisor from our Southeast Service Center, is the 2023 Jeffrey S. Holcomb Scholarship recipient!

The Jeffrey S. Holcomb Scholarship was established by the board of directors in order to honor and remember the leadership and service he gave to American Woodmark as a founder, director, and vice president of finance. The scholarship is awarded once each year to the dependent of a team member who is selected as the winner by an independent outside advisory committee.

Joseph is a driven and accomplished individual with a passion for academic excellence and teamwork. Since elementary school, he has excelled in standardized tests, leading to his placement in accelerated classes. In middle school, Joseph's exceptional math and English skills were recognized when he achieved perfect scores on various end-of-course exams.

In 2019, Joseph was accepted into the prestigious Academy of Arts, Science, and Technology (AAST), a STEM-certified school focused on preparing students for college and career success. Despite a demanding academic schedule, he actively participated in varsity football and golf at Carolina Forest High School. Joseph's commitment to community involvement is evident through his founding of AAST's Ping Pong Club and his contributions to various events and activities.

With a keen interest in global logistics and supply chain management, Joseph decided to pursue a major in this field at the University of South Carolina's Darla Moore School of Business. As a first-generation college student, he is eager to leverage his analytical and creative thinking to analyze complex supply chains, recognize trends, and develop strategies for optimization. Outside of academics, Joseph enjoys golfing, fishing, traveling, and spending time with friends.

Overall, Joseph P. Fanizzi is a determined individual who combines his academic achievements with a strong work ethic and a passion for collaborative problem-solving.

We can’t wait to see where this path leads him. Congratulations, Joseph!
