James G. Davis Retires from American Woodmark Board After 23 Years of Service

August 21, 2025

After 23 years of outstanding service, James (Jim) G. Davis is retiring from the American Woodmark Board of Directors. Elected in 2002, Jim has provided steady, insightful leadership through a transformative period in the company’s history.

He served across several Board committees—including Audit, Compensation, and Governance, Sustainability, and Nominating—and most recently chaired the Governance Committee. Under his guidance, the Board enhanced its onboarding and evaluation practices, laying the groundwork for a more substantial, more effective leadership body.

“Jim has served our Board and Company extraordinarily well,” said Vance Tang, Chair of the Board. “His deep experience in construction and business leadership, together with his consistently positive attitude, were always valuable. He significantly improved our Director On-Boarding and Board Evaluation processes.”

As the company grew from $0.5 billion to $1.8 billion in annual sales during his tenure, Jim remained a trusted voice and advocate for American Woodmark’s mission and values.

“Jim has been a key contributor to the success of our company for over twenty-three years,” said Scott Culbreth, President and CEO. “He’s been a strong advocate of our mission, vision, and values, and I want to thank him for his insights and many contributions.”

Jim departs with the Board’s deepest gratitude and best wishes. His presence, perspective, and dedication leave a lasting imprint on American Woodmark’s legacy.
